Elara has extensive experience working in the City of Chicago for energy driven projects. Throughout our firm’s history, we have provided energy auditing, energy upgrade and commissioning projects for buildings in Chicago with focus on high-rise residential, mixed use buildings and commercial buildings, as well as higher education buildings. We are well-versed in City of Chicago codes and ordinances, have good working relationships with City code officials. We are certified to perform City of Chicago Energy Benchmarking and have extensive knowledge of local utility companies and incentive programs offered. In fact, Elara procured the most incentive funding on behalf of its customers compared to all other ComEd Trade Allies in 2014.
Our principals have been performing energy audits on buildings since the 1980s. Upon forming Elara in 2001, the principals focused on providing energy audits (ASHRAE I, II and III) and system assessments for a variety of buildings. Our engineers have been trained in performing energy audits and assessments inclusive of benchmarking and now inclusive of benchmarking per the City of Chicago Benchmarking requirements. We are well versed in Energy Star Portfolio Manager, LEED for our projects. In recent years, Elara has created a dedicated team of engineers to perform energy audits and assessments. Finally, our previous contracting experience gives us a unique insight on real-world project costs further enhancing each energy recommendation.
As energy assessments have always been part of Elara, our goal is to develop and implement energy driven projects born from our reports. These include central plant replacements (boilers, chillers, domestic water, etc), ventilation upgrades and building automation system installations. With a passion for energy-efficiency, we produce cutting-edge designs that improve the functionality of new and existing buildings. Our engineers analyze the big picture, communicate with the client to determine project goals, and deliver practical recommendations that optimize energy use throughout the site. Elara focuses on finding practical and innovative ways to reduce utility cost and has a track record of meeting or exceeding energy savings projections.
